WATCH: Protecting undocumented students

A child’s immigration status affects every aspect of their life. Their access to health care. Finding safe housing. Even their ability to learn.

The Alliance for Excellent Education hosted a webinar this week to discuss how recent immigration news has affected learning environments. Topics included the end of a popular immigration program for children, undocumented students’ rights, and ways to create a diverse and culturally inclusive classroom.

Full video of the session, titled “Students Without Status: Understanding and Protecting the Rights of Undocumented Immigrant Students,” is below.

The panel includes Phillip Lovell, Vice President of Policy Development and Government Relations at the Alliance for Excellent Education; Jamie Fasteau, Principal at Education Counsel; Carlos A. Guevara, Senior Policy Advisor at UnidosUS; and Eduardo Mendez, Principal of Guadalupe Centers High School.
